Privacy and data use policy

The data controller and data processor for the www.karolinanor.com website is me, Norenberg Karolina.

You can contact me to receive any information on the Privacy Policy or to request the deletion of any data, if you have already provided it.

Write to: norenbergkarolina@gmail.com

Privacy Policy

You provide me with personal data when you use a contact form to send me a message or when you subscribe to the newsletter (there isn't one yet but I will). I need these data to answer your request or to send you information: I use them only in this way and never pass them on to anyone else.

In this Privacy Policy I explain how I use the data, how I protect it, and where you can find the information you need: it applies to this site, www.karolinanor.com, and not to other sites you can get to by navigating here (for example by following a link in a blog article).

1. Cookies

Cookies are pieces of information that sites store on the memory of the computer, smartphone or tablet you use to browse the site. They can serve various purposes, including saving your preferences, allowing you to purchase products from an e-commerce website, and recognising you when you return to the site.

On this site, I use technical cookies to remember if I have informed you of the existence of cookies, or if I need to remind you that we use them and invite you to read this policy.

Other information that may be of interest to you:

I use Google Analytics to have, in an anonymised form, statistics on the use of the site;

I use the Facebook pixel for retargeting, I will explain what that means below.

In your browser you can set your privacy preferences so that you do not store cookies, delete them after each visit or each time you close the browser, or even accept only www.mercoledituttalasettimana.com cookies and not those of third parties.

2. Newsletter

It is not yet active, but I already warn you that as soon as I create it and share it here on the site I will send out about one newsletter a month to

share useful materials and tips on the world of travel;

notify you of the latest blog posts;

alert you if I have courses, interesting events, book presentations and occasions where we can meet.

To subscribe, you can use the newsletter subscription form that I will put on the site.

The newsletter will be managed with MailChimp, and your email address is stored on MailChimp's servers (so even outside the EU) and periodically in the backups I make of the list. You can read MailChimp's privacy policy here. When you subscribe (or unsubscribe), I may receive a notification with your details on my email box, which is managed on Gmail.

MailChimp, like any newsletter management platform, gives information about who opens the newsletter and clicks on the links; information that I will use to understand if I write things

3. Use of the contact form and data entered in comments or contacts

If you write to me from the Contact page, I use your data to reply to you, the same if you write to me by e-mail or leave a comment on one of my posts. Your data is stored in my email archive (Gmail), in the site's database (hosted on Netsons) if it is comments, and in my backups; I am the owner and controller of the data, which I do not pass on to anyone else.

4. Site navigation

In order to obtain data on visits to our site I use Google Analytics, which is a free service provided by Google and I set it up so that your IP address is anonymised by resetting the last part of the address to zero.

The information generated by the Google Analytics cookie about your use of the website (including the first part of your IP address) is then transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google uses this information to track and examine your use of the website, and provides this data, in aggregate form and never linked to your identity, through Analytics reports and its other information services (e.g. Google Trends).

Google may transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law or where they process this information on its behalf; Google Analytics' privacy and data use policy is here.

I use the analytics data to better understand what you like and dislike and to improve the content of this blog.

If you do not want to be ‘tracked’, even anonymously, by this or other sites that use Google Analytics, you can download the add-on to deactivate the sending of browsing data to Google Analytics: it works with most popular browsers, and is distributed free of charge by Google.

5. Retargeting

On this website we use the Facebook pixel for retargeting, i.e. to show you advertising on Facebook that is consistent with pages you have already visited. Retargeting uses cookies, and your browsing data is not linked to your identity and personal data.

You can always change your privacy settings to control and block cookies and manage the use of your data. All major browsers allow you to change this information and block the installation of cookies.

You can also consult an online service that allows you to check which cookies are active on your browser and how to block them: it is called Your Online Choices.
